The Hungarian Trilogy by P.S. Lorio.
It’s cold. It’s snowing. It’s Chicago in the winter. Wanda Balogh, the 49 year old Hungarian-born proprietress of a little restaurant and tavern Bud’s Place is chained to the doldrums as her best friend, Helen, goes on and on about her pending trip to Las Vegas. “Am I too old to expect a few surprises?” pines Wanda to an empty bar in the opening scene of this off-beat comedy. But little does Wanda know that adventure is about to walk through the door.
Mistaken identity and snatched opportunity, murder, mayhem, and mirth come through the door in a cast of characters who range from couple of regular working girls, to a hitman, a moviemaker, Irish pedestrian, and a pancake reading fortuneteller.
Before the final curtain falls, Wanda will get her biggest surprise of all.
